Why GenYNetworking.com? Why Corn?
You’ve heard the quote before, but somehow, it just doesn’t seem that easy.
It’s not what you know, it’s who you know.
Great, but believing in this quote is just the beginning. Exactly who are you supposed to know? How can you connect with these influential people, and which media channels are best for reaching them? How do live networking events work? What if you’re shy? Where do you even start?
These are just a few of the questions that are so critical for Generation Y to understand in order to start or propel their career. This is why I’m excited to be a part of GenYNetworking.com, and I hope you are too.
So, who am I, and why am I here? My name is Rich DeMatteo, and I’m a human resources and recruiting professional from Philadelphia. I’ve worked in both agency and corporate recruiting, and have witnessed the benefit that being well connected brings to Generation Y, as well as other generations.
I run an HR, job search, and recruiting blog called Corn On The Job. Many members of my community are from Generation Y, and together we share our ideas and thoughts on networking. My blog has enabled me to not only indirectly coach Generation Y on networking, but also it’s allowed me to learn more on the topic than I ever dreamed.
You’ll find that my style is very conversational, and I invite each and every reader to share their thoughts and opinions on the topic. None of us are experts, but together we can reach any goal we set or challenge ahead of us. I look forward to joining you on Gen Y Networking, and I invite you to reach out and connect with me at any time!
